Googleが携帯電話に参入するとかなんとか言われていたが、蓋を開ければ普通に携帯向けOSに参入するという物。オープンソースで、Windows MobileとかSymbian OSもしくはAppleのiPhoneなんかに対抗する物だと思われるが、実際の所、実機が出てこなければ、ユーザーにとってどれだけ使いやすい物になるのかわからんね。

具体的にはAndroidという名前で、ライセンスはApache v2。2007年11月12日よりSDKなんかが公開される。

OSのライセンス料が無くなり、アプリケーションも良い物が使えるようになるのだろうが、2008年後半に登場するだろう実機が、どれだけ魅力的な物か今のところ全く不明。
おそらく、似たようなOSが使われているiPhoneのようなUIも可能だろうが、実際の所UIをそこまで使いやすくできるのかって部分は、各携帯電話メーカーにかかっているのでは無かろうか。
そういう意味では、現行の日本の携帯電話を見ると使いやすさは全く期待できないわけで。

まあ、日本のNTTドコモやKDDIも、このアライアンスに入っているので、ドコモで言えば90xに搭載されるのか、70xのような安い物に搭載されるのかなど動向は気になる物の、ユーザーとしては今のところ待つしかない。
KDDIとしてはKCP+ってのとの関係は? とか気になる部分も多数ある。
